Our Friends in the North

Now I understand
Why you’re playing your hand
While the North has its dick out
And head in the sand
And I respect your right
To step up the fight
When our prospects are dim
And your prospects are bright
But if you break away
The empire still stays
In justice’s way
And in power forever
It’s grey skies today
Oh, but Scotland, please stay
And we’ll find a solution together

It surprises me little
With our failing hospitals
While we subsidise banks
In a clear upwards trickle
You use with audacity
Your renewable capacity
And you discuss it
With much more veracity
But urban decay
Is what we both face
We’ve been lead astray
In our housing endeavours
It’s grey skies today
Oh, but Scotland, please stay
And we’ll find a solution together

I know we agree
That school should be free
That nuclear subs
Shouldn’t sit in wor seas
That we should address
Our penal excess
You’ve a chance to start over
For that you are blessed
I sure would be tempted
If I could be exempted
From genocide fees
Both revenge and pre-emptive
So what can I say?
I can’t ask you to stay
When getting away
Might be now or never
It’s grey skies today
But I hope either way
That we can still find a solution together

And if I could choose
I’d be Scottish too
I’d withdraw from NATO
And fish for me food
But because of these lines
We’ll remain in decline
Waiting for Blair
To reopen the mines
Just promise me thus
That you won’t forget us
When we need asylum
When this North goes bust
Our future’s unclear
By the end of the year
I could be Scottish
Kilt, passport and weather
It’s grey skies today
But borders mean nay!
We’ll still find a solution together
